Kevin Wright was born on 19th February 1933 at Womens Hospital Fitzroy, son of Clarrie and Eileen. Educated at Alfred Crescent Primary and Box Hill Technical School. He was an apprentice cabinet maker before he worked at Boral Bricks for 33 years. Kevin played VFL football for Fitzroy (146 games and twice leading goalkicker). He is a Life member and Hall of Fame member if the Fitzroy and Brisbane Lions . He married Joan Riley in 1956 at St Josephs Collingwood, having 3 kids and 7 grandchildren.
Kevin joined Dennis in 1949 at the age of 16. He played in 1 premiership and scored 8 centuries. He sits on top of the list in most games and most runs and second in most wickets. He was a top order batsmen, fast medium bowler and was a great wicket keeper too. He has held the coveted position of first XI captain a record 9 times. In 1965/66 he took 43 wickets at 11.6, his best ever figures in the same year of 11/83. In 1970/71 he scored 534 runs at 44.5. In fact he scored the most runs in a season on 10 occasions.
Kevin played from 1949/50 until 1977/78. He played in 259 games, scored 7653 runs at 27.93 and taken 509 wickets at 16.14. This could even be higher since stats were only kept since 1953/54.
He played in the 1954/55 premiership, where he took 10/85 (6/53 and 4/32) in the match. Centuries: 134, 103, 123, 102*, 102*, 119, 133 and 106.
In 1956/57 he took a hat-trick against Leeds - 5/8.
Kevin passed away on 3 October 2003. He holds many records at the club.
